Lawyer by trade.
Entrepreneur by nature.
Kate Puckett is an associate attorney at Hasan, LLC where she assists companies as a general outside counsel practicing in all areas of business and corporate law, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate structuring, venture/private equity, and financing. Coming from a family of serial entrepreneurs, she grew up helping run various family businesses, and applies her experience in serving other business owners today. She earned a J.D. from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, including a certificate in Corporate and Commercial Law.
Prior to joining Hasan, LLC in 2014, Kate participated in two legal externships, notable innovators in their respective industries. First, Kate clerked for Johns Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway company and leading international manufacturer and marketer of building and insulation material. Through the externship, Kate gained valuable experience working hand-in-hand with its corporate general counsel, conducting legal research and drafting corporate documents, while learning to solve the challenges large corporations face in corporate law and other legal areas. While serving as an extern at Galvanize, LLC, Kate’s role was two-fold; she not only became well-versed on the legal structuring of private equity, financing, fund formation, day-to-day business and legal services, she also collaborated on the business consulting side by taking part in event planning and building community networking platforms for startups.
Additionally, Kate served as a research assistant for Law Professor Michael D. Sousa where she actively conducted research for a qualitative research initiative regarding access to justice in consumer bankruptcy cases and the role of attorneys and bankruptcy petition preparers in the industry.
Kate continues to provide bro bono legal assistance to the Ute Mountain Tribe and Southern Ute Tribes as a part of the Tribal Wills Project for University of Denver where she drafts last wills and testaments and financial power of attorneys with particular attention to real property devises under the American Indian Probate Reform Act (AIRPA).
Kate is active in the community, currently serving as a volunteer with The Lions Club and Volunteer Optometrists Serving Humanity (VOSH) wherein she organizes eyeglass collection drives and volunteers at free eye examination clinics locally and in Ecuador, Mexico and Nicaragua. In her free time, Kate enjoys practicing her Spanish, her growth and practice in yoga, as well as adventuring in the outdoors, engaging in rock climbing, whitewater kayaking, and fly fishing.
As an extern for a leading international manufacturer and marketer of building and insulation materials, Kate collaborated with in-house counsel to conduct legal research and draft supply and lease agreements and amendments. She wrote licensing agreements and legal memorandums and triaged legal questions from non-legal departments. Johns Manville is a Berkshire Hathaway company.
