This is a rundown of some innovative Colorado start-ups and entrepreneurial businesses that have successfully raised venture capital in the past few weeks.

  • Fort Collins-based VanDyne SuperTurbo has raised $8 million to grow and hire more employees. VanDyne currently employs 13 people.
  • Inspirato reports that they have raised $20 million for Institutional Venture Partners of California. Inspirato is a Denver luxury destination club. This isn’t their first round of capital-in October they raised $17.5 million.
  • Golden based Mosoro, a company that creates Bluetooth (Bluetooth LE) accessory solutions, also known as Appcessories, for smartphones, has raised $1.5 million.
  • According to PricewaterhouseCoopers /National Venture Capital Association- MoneyTree Report, VC funding in the fourth quarter totaled $166.3 million in Colorado, compared with $238.2 million in the fourth quarter of 2010. Though this is down for the quarter, the full year 2011 saw, venture capitalists fund 98 Colorado deals for a total of $618.7 million. That was up from 88 deals valued at $483.4 million in 2010. The great news for Colorado business formation is that early stage investments were a sizeable part of that growth. For 2011, $270 million went to early stage funding, while in 2010 that number was $133 million.

Good news for growth and innovation in the Colorado start-up and entrepreneurial environment.
